How it works

Three photos, one honest answer

Made for the aisle at an estate sale: three photos from your phone.

  1. Take three photos

The whole piece, the maker's mark or underside, and a close-up of detail or wear. Or pick photos from your library, like the ones your sister texted from Mom's house, and add a note about where the piece came from.

  2. Get the identification

What the piece likely is, its rough era, style and origin, and a confidence badge: Likely, Probable or Uncertain. If it isn't sure, you see the other possibilities.

  3. See the value range and what moves it

An estimated range with the factors behind it: date, condition, completeness, marks, demand. Plus signs to check, a shortcut to eBay sold prices, and a plain "get a professional appraisal" when it matters.

What you get

Everything on the result, nothing hidden

Each result shows its working, so you can decide what to believe.

A range with its reasons

For the Wedgwood urn above: $400–$1,200, and the list of what decides where it lands, from the date to a missing lid to the marks on the base.

Says when it's unsure

Every match carries a confidence level. When it's unsure, you get the other possibilities and the photo that would settle it, like "the underside of both bases."

Signs to check, not a verdict

Where to look for marks, hand-applied detail, glaze, wear and weight. Vintio lays out the evidence; you judge it.

eBay sold prices, one tap away

"See recent sold prices on eBay" opens a sold-listings search for pieces like yours, so you can check the range against real sales.

Your photos, your story

Use pictures already on your phone and add a note, like an inscription or the family story. Vintio weighs it with the photos.

Private by default

Our position

An estimate, and it says so

Many antique apps describe themselves as "appraisers" in their App Store listings. Vintio doesn't. It gives a range with its reasons, a confidence level, and a straight answer when you need a professional. Every result carries the same line: "This is an AI estimate for guidance only — not a professional appraisal."

What Vintio does

  • Suggests what the piece likely is, with rough era, style and origin
  • Gives an estimated value range and the factors that move it
  • Shows a confidence level, and other possibilities when it's unsure
  • Lists signs to check and the photos that would help
  • Tells you plainly when to get a professional appraisal

What it doesn't pretend to do

  • It isn't an appraisal, and it can't replace a qualified appraiser
  • No real-or-fake verdict: you weigh the signs
  • No single "exact" number
  • No price database or auction records; the eBay link is a search
  • Not on Android yet: iPhone only for now

FAQ

Questions, answered straight

Is Vintio an appraisal?

No. Vintio gives an AI estimate for guidance, not a professional appraisal. Before you buy or sell anything that might be valuable, get a qualified appraiser. When a piece looks like it could be worth one, the result says so. Do you need an appraisal?

How accurate is Vintio?

It depends most on your photos. A clear shot of the maker's mark or underside often decides the answer. Every result shows a confidence level, and when it's unsure it lists other possibilities and the photos that would help. We don't quote an accuracy percentage.

Is Vintio free?

It's free to download and includes 3 free identifications. After that, Vintio Pro is $4.99 a week with a 3-day free trial, or $39.99 a year. Pro gives you unlimited identifications and your full history.

Does it tell me if something is fake?

No. Vintio doesn't give real-or-fake verdicts. It lists signs to check for that kind of piece, such as impressed marks, hand-applied detail, texture, wear and weight, and you judge the evidence. For anything valuable, ask a specialist. Antique or reproduction?

What photos should I take?

Three: the whole piece in soft daylight without flash, the maker's mark or underside in sharp focus, and a close-up of detail or wear. Photos already in your library work too, including ones a relative texted you. How to photograph antiques

Where does the value range come from?

It's an AI estimate that weighs what it sees in your photos and your note, and it lists the factors that move the price for that piece. It doesn't come from a price database or auction records. To compare against real sales, tap "See recent sold prices on eBay," which opens a search of sold eBay listings for similar items (eBay shows roughly the last 90 days). How to check eBay sold prices

Is Vintio on Android?

Not yet. Vintio is iPhone only for now and needs iOS 15 or later.

What happens to my photos?

Your finds are saved in a history on your iPhone, and you don't need an account to start. Location data is stripped from your photos before they are uploaded for identification. Read the privacy policy
